Mountaineering is the mountaineering instruction and guiding
company run by Jules Barrett. Welcome to the website!
The
courses
and guiding options that I offer are diverse and flexible;
anything from a single days tuition to
a week-long holiday in the mountains. The programs cover a wide range
of
mountaineering activities including hillwalking and scrambling, winter
mountaineering and rock climbing. Whether
you want to improve your navigation, push your hillwalking onto
scrambling ground, make the transition from climbing wall to rock, or
learn the techniques of multi-pitch climbing, I can help. Some people
have personal ambitions,
such as the traverse of the Cuillin Ridge, the Inaccessible Pinnacle,
the Old Man of Stoer or Long Climb on Ben Nevis. If
the dates
that you want do not appear on here please let me
know and I will do my best to accommodate. I cater
for all abilities and am honest about the fitness and
skills requirements of the courses. Be assured that our courses are not
just for
super-fit mountain goats! All courses are delivered
to
the highest standards of
instruction and safety in a professional and friendly way.
I am a
full-time mountain instructor based near the Peak District but working
throughout the UK including the Scottish Highlands, Isle of
Skye, Snowdonia and the Lake District. I hold the Mountain Instructors
Award, the Winter Mountain Leader Award and am a member of the
Association of Mountaineering Instructors. I have been climbing and
mountaineering in the UK and abroad for fifteen years or so. I
work
with private clients, local education authority outdoor centres,
climbing walls and organisations who deliver training and assessment of
the Mountain Leader Award, Walking Group Leader, Single Pitch Award and
the new Climbing Wall Award.
I also
hold the Level 2 Cave Leader Award, Industrial Rope Access Technician's
Award,
am a member of the Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation, Hon. Equipment
Officer of the Derbyshire Caving Association and Hon. Training Officer
of
the Eldon Pothole Club.
