What
equipment is provided?
We supply all technical equipment such as ropes and climbing equipment.
For hillwalking and navigation courses we ask you to supply your own
map. A detailed kit list will be sent to you with course confirmation
and details.
Why
don't you provide accommodation for all your courses?
You'll notice that we organise both residential and non-residential
courses. If we think the course will benefit from us all staying
somewhere together we'll make it a residential course. Usually, this is
because we have a full program of evening sessions planned or the
logistics are easier that way. For some of our courses, we ask you to
arrange your own accommodation. Since some people will want to stay in
five-star luxury, others will opt for a B&B, and others will be
happy to camp, we just ask you to pay for the instruction and guiding
services on the hill and in the classroom.
Food
and transport arrangements during the course.
Residential
Courses - transport to and from
venues is provided for the duration of the course. Breakfast and lunch
is provided. After a day on the hill we usually go out together for
evening meal but that's not included in the price.
Non-residential
Courses - we ask you to use your
own transport. If you don't have transport, we can usually share lifts
etc. Please make your own arrangements for food.
What's
the timetable for courses?
Residential
Courses - Accommodation will be
provided for the night before the course starts. The
course begins with breakfast at 8:00 the
following morning and finishes at 4:30 pm on the last day. For
example, our Scrambles on Skye course runs from Monday 1st
to Friday 5th May 2006. Five nights
accommodation is provided from the night of Sunday 30th April to
Thursday 4th May.
Non-residential
Courses
- We will meet somewhere
convenient for breakfast on the first morning of the course and a
typical hill day lasts from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
What
about Under 18s?
Under 18s are welcome on our courses as long as they are accompanied
for the duration of the course by a parent or guardian. We can run
family days in the Peak District, Snowdonia and the Lake District with
children as young as nine.
What
if I book a place and then have to cancel?
If a customer needs to cancel they must send the cancellation in
writing by either post or email. We will acknowledge the cancellation
within 5 days of receiving it. The customer will be charged on the
following basis:
- deposits are non-refundable
- 60% of course fee where cancellation takes place within the period
1-14 days before commencement of course
- 100% of course fee where cancellation takes place on or after
commencement of the course
